SA 516 Grade 60 is a carbon steel plate used mainly in boilers and pressure vessels. It has Carbon (0.21% max), Manganese (0.55–1.20%), Phosphorus (0.035% max), Sulfur (0.035% max), and Silicon (0.13–0.45%) for increased strength and durability. Its mechanical properties are Tensile Strength: 415–550 MPa, Yield Strength: 220 MPa min, and Elongation: 21% min (thickness dependent). This grade has good weldability, notch toughness, and resistance to moderate temperatures, making it suitable for industrial use.
